Biography

Melina Meschkat was already hired as a guest soloist in different opera houses, theaters and free productions while studying her Bachelor at the University in Saabrücken. In the state theater Saarbrücken she was invited to sing the second woodsprite in Dvorak’s Rusalka, one of the Edelknaben in Wagner’s Tannhäuser and to sing the page und slave in Salome by Richard Strauss. Ath the University in Saarbrücken she sang the dog (Das schlaue Füchslein L. Janacek), Maurya (Riders to the sea V. Williams) and Lucretia (The rape of Lucretia B. Britten).

After finishing her Bachelors with the highest amount of points she started her Master Opera at the University of Music in Hamburg. In the university productions she sang Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel E. Humperdinck), Ruggiero (Alcina G.F. Händel) and Frau Reich (Lustige Weiber von Windsor O. Nicolai). She was also part of an production of the music-theater-directing class in which she performed as the only singer/actress the visions and the death of Phaedra with music by Benjamin Britten and drama texts by Sarah Kane. Outside of university but still studying she sang Annio (La Clemenza di Tito W.A. Mozart, in the Kammeroper Hamburg, Marguerite (La dame blanche F.A. Boieldieu) with Junge Oper Rhein Main and Mercedes (Carmen, G. Bizet) at the Opernfestspielen Schloß Glatt.

Also she jumped in two times in the Theater Bremen to sing Ruggiero (Alcina, G.F. Händel) in 2020 and the Second Woodsprite (Rusalka / Dvorak) in 2017.

Melina is also frequently asked for concerts mainly in Europe. She will for example be one of the soloists to sing all concert tours with the Choir and Orchestra of the Netherlands in 2021/2022.

After her Master graduation Melina Meschkat moved to Groningen, Netherlands where she is currently living with her partner and dog. Since september 2020 she gets singing lessons and coachings from Hanneke de Wit.
